Now TSA wants your DNA - And lying about the reason...

The TSA now wants to swab all flyers for DNA samples on the pretense of controlling illegal immigration. It's not bad enough that they now pat down little children for Amtrak. Now the government wants to collect DNA samples from America citizens.

Some issues here! First, it is not for purposes of controlling illegal immigration. How do I know? Because I can use logic. First, our problem with illegal immigration does not lie in airports. It lies on our borders. If the government is truly interested in controlling illegal immigration, why are they not sealing the porous borders?

Second, collecting and sorting DNA is incredibly expensive - it would cost far more than sealing the borders. There is zero logic in swabbing flyers for DNA for purposes of controlling illegal immigration. More important, I find it incredibly scary - not to mention intrusive - for ANY government to have the ability to track every one of my descendants in perpetuity. Throughout the history of Mankind, no government - none - has ever been permanent. Sooner or later, every government fails. In the 1930's the German government failed, and Hitler stepped in. Imagine if he had access to DNA data on all Jews. NONE would have survived. He could have rounded up every one in a matter of days.

Fast forward to America 2032. The current world-wide upheaval of anarchists and socialists has expanded and even America has succumbed to socialism. The population of the world has doubled and there are not enough resources to support them all. It becomes necessary to decide who will live and who will die. Break out the DNA banks and locate every person with "genetic defects" that "the world is better off without". Talk about ethnic cleansing. Or a "super race". In such a world - and some variation of it will come to pass - the DNA you give up now could easily be used to track down and wipe out all of your descendants - children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

I don't know about you, but I am more than just "uncomfortable" with people giving up their DNA unless they are suspects in a crime, and even then the DNA collected from anyone found innocent should be permanently destroyed. I find it frightening because throughout the history of Man, anything we have to power to do to others is something we WILL do to others. "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

I would walk to my destination before giving any government the power to round up and abuse future generations of my family based on what some bureaucrat deems to be a flaw in my genetic code. /
