In his inaugural speech, John Fitzgerald Kennedy made one of the most famous quotes in American history - "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what YOU can do for your country."
Over these last few decades since, and most particularly in the last few years, it seems every Democrat politician has the singular mindset and goal of having government provide everything for the people. They not only make it possible to "ask what your country can do for you", they also MANDATE it, with bills like ObamaCare.
I believe in JFK and his concept of the government's role - it was not unlike Reagan's concept - that government serves best if kept small, and controlled by the people.
After all, just exactly WHAT can we "do for our country" if the country does it all for us?
A people who have become dependent upon government are a people enslaved.
