Understanding the Constitution Part IV

Section 3 - Treason

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court."

There has been much talk of late concerning treason. And there are several definitions. But the only one that counts is the definition clearly stated in the Constitution.

When Jane Fonda went to North Viet Nam and provided them with aid and comfort, she committed an overt act of treason. And now "Jihad Jane", now in the news, has given aid and comfort to the terrorists, and has therefore committed an act of treason. Before the age of liberal intrusion in the 60's, both of these people would have been tried for treason.

Unfortunately, progressive liberals, since the '60's and the "hippie" movement, have pretty much eliminated any discussion of treason, which is why Fonda and many others have never been charged, nor will they be charged. The reason progressive liberals have worked so hard to eliminate treason is simply because almost all treasonous acts are committed by radical liberals (though not all liberals are treasonous). They simply do not see their treason as being treason - just dissent. But when dissent escalates to the point of intentionally helping the enemy, that is no longer dissent - it is treason.
